Anne
Britton, a native Texan, has been surrounded by the creative aspect
of life from early on. Her mother, an international abstract
watercolorist, has played a large part in her desires to express
herself through two and three dimensional art. Many of her designs
depict the abstract influence of her mother.
Having
earned a degree in teaching from Sam Houston State University, Anne
thought she was ready for teaching general education as her life’s
career. To her surprise, two years into teaching, she felt a strong
pull to the visual arts and attended college once again to study
design, drawing and pottery.
Combining
her love of all things artistic and a passion for education, Anne
found herself. She taught art in different environments and then
established an art studio for children, “Atelier,” in the summer of
2003.
Her first
introduction to jewelry as an art form, was nine years ago, when a
visiting jewelry designer performed a demonstration lesson for her
class. Inspired, Anne bought the equipment to make jewelry that
afternoon and has been creating ever since. In recent years, she
has expanded into silversmith and lampworking, bringing a different
look and feel to her pieces.
Anne’s creations have shown and or
sold in galleries, stores and exhibitions in the states and the U.S.
Virgin Islands. She has also designed many commissioned pieces for
private individuals.
