Luminous
colors, attention to detail and a great respect for realism are a
few of the qualities immediately engaging a viewer to the work of
Janine Marie Martens.
For all
of her adult life, Janine Marie Martens has been driven by two
passions, a love of flowers and a love of great art. Until
eight years ago her only indulgence of these
passions was through gardening, floral design and viewing the work
of artists in museums and galleries.
For six
years she painted in watercolor depicting nature in the form of
botanicals, florals, and still lifes. She studied under Annie Ferder of Bend, Oregon, Elsie Grace of La Quinta and Diane Maxey of
Scottsdale Artists College.
Two years
ago she started painting in oil and has studied under Greg Kreutz of
the New York Art Students League and Jean Chambers of the
Fredericksburg Art School.
After
living her entire life in Southern California she moved to Austin in
2006.
