Kathy
Dalrymple, although not born in Texas, moved here as an infant. Her
love
of Texas,
and
especially the Texas Hill Country, is
evident in her artwork. Texas will always be
home!
Kathy received a B.A in fine arts from Cameron University in Lawton,
Oklahoma. Her area
of concentration was Printmaking with the emphasis of her work being
Serigraphy. Through
the years she has experimented in all media but became interested in
mosaics about 3 years ago. The majority of her work now is glass on glass
mosaics with most pieces being in a format to hang as a stained
glass window. In addition to incorporating both new and vintage
stained glass, her pieces utilize vintage rhinestones and glass
jewels. She has also begun to combine pieces of glass that she has
hand painted with
glass enamels in order to add to the detail, as well as
the
uniqueness.
Many
of her works are inspired by Texas, and her themes
include
native
wild flowers, the
Texas flag, and native wildlife. Having a
second home in Colorado,
Kathy also draws
inspiration from
many things there.
She is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists and the
Brownwood Art Association and recently won a Second Place
recognition in the Delphi Stained Glass online competition, Mosaic
category.
Her works are displayed many places including the
Texas State
Capital building, Mills
County Historical Museum, as well as restaurants and businesses in Texas and many
private collections.
