Kim
Norris began her journey of discovery with clay in 1991. She
immediately fell in love with the
versatility and endless wonder of the medium. Her art is a
reflection of her devotion to her craft. Each piece is a unique
display of imagination and contemplation reflecting Kim's keen
observation of the harmony of her surroundings. Kim's studio is
located in the quiet community of Keller, Texas. Her studio
environment is the perfect place for her and her craft. She has
created an oasis of peace and tranquility on the homestead she
shares with her husband, dog, two cats, and a pond thriving with
fish. It is never unusual to find Kim working in her studio with
only the quiet hum of a potters wheel to break the silence.
Kim
attended the Arrowmont School of Art and the Sante Fe School of Art.
She is an active member of the Texas Potters and Sculpture Guild,
Dallas Craft Guild and the Texas Clay Arts Association. Kim has
studied under some of the best artists of our generation, such as
Pete Pinnell, Randy Brodnax, Mark Epstein, Daphne Hatcher, John
DeWeese, Ron Meyers, Ellen Shankin, Steven Hill, Patrick Horsley,
and Lana Wilson. Her
devotion
to her art extends far beyond the one-of-a-kind pieces she has
created for her clients. She also teaches pottery classes from her
Keller studio. She receives great pleasure helping others pick up a
hobby, create wonderful works of art, or begin a personal journey of
wonder and discovery with clay. Her reputation as a knowledgeable
instructor who genuinely cares about the success of her students has
spread throughout North Texas.
