With little experience and a lot of determination, Anne & Barry
Bradley brought Artisans at Rocky Hill to the Texas Hill Country.
Artisans opened its doors on July 1st, 2005 with the
objective of showcasing fine Artisans & Craftsmen who reside in the
inspirational hills of Texas. Over 95% of all artwork in the
Gallery is created right here, in Central Texas. With the
objective met, Artisans now showcases the most diverse selection of
fine craft alongside fine art in the Texas Hill Country.
Moving from Houston, Anne & Barry Bradley, along with their two children
Sean and Nicole, arrived in the Fredericksburg area in 1999. With
the move came the opportunity to absorb and enjoy new artistic
styles in the Fredericksburg, Texas area. Barry quickly became enchanted with the native woods of the
area. His designs changed from urban/ traditional to those which
can only be inspired by this area in Texas. Several years were
spent showcasing his newly inspired creations through various
venues in the Fredericksburg area. His wooden canoes were well received as a unique and
beautiful art-form not often found in Texas. It was clear Barry’s
talent had emerged into a fine art and with that realization,
Artisan’s was born in Fredericksburg, Texas.
A
busy family schedule and a tight budget encouraged the Bradley’s to
enlist the help of the Artists. Maintaining posted business
hours is essential so, during the week and most Saturdays, our visitors
will find an Artist in the Gallery who’s anxious to visit
about any work on display. Often times you will find the Artist in
the midst of creating what will soon grace the Gallery. Anne
Bradley refers to the Gallery as not a “drop & go, receive a
check” Gallery. The success of Artisans depends greatly on
those who showcase their work and the Artists contribute in many
ways. Roughly one third of the Artists actually work in the Gallery during
business hours; some bring heavy appetizers to events and others
perform demonstrations of their talent. Everyone is involved in one
fashion or another and as a result, the Artists have taken ownership
in the Gallery. Each Artist is genuinely grateful to be able to
participate in this unique situation which has become more like a
family than a retail environment. Anne and Barry Bradley are
grateful to have these wonderfully talented people in their lives.
For a fabulously fun and colorful experience, visit Artisans at
Rocky Hill (on Main Street) to enjoy the finest in locally created
fine craft and fine art. Don't forget to step out the back
door to enjoy a beautifully lush courtyard graced by the talent of
our artists and one lovely lady named Maggie who transformed the
once over-grown, weed infested area into a comfortable setting
surrounded by Texas Native plants.
